Cabbage Roses are used to treat a cold!
A decoction from rose hips can be used as a gargle for bleeding gums and it will relieve toothache! When fresh, rose hips are an excellent source of Vitamin C and a great help for convalescents against exhaustion and colds.
The tea is best made by macerating the crushed hips (without the hard achenes) not by lengthy boiling. Fresh hips can also be made into jam, syrup and medicinal wine.
Cabbage roses, so called, because of their double flowers, which look like small heads of cabbage, are used to make rose oil which is used in infusions to treat diarrhoea and externally to bathe wounds.
