Rose Platter for Leafy Dinners
Vegetarians are healthier than carnivores!
Let us dig into some more healthy recipes for living well from Food Rules An Eater’s Manual by Michael Pollan.
He tells us to eat mostly plants, especially leaves! The booklet tells us that scores of studies have shown that a diet rich in vegetables and fruits reduces the risk of dying from all the Western diseases. In countries where people eat a pound or more of vegetables and fruits a day, the rate of cancer is half what it is in the United States.
Eating more vegetables and fruits also means we will be consuming less calories! Vegetarians are healthier than carnivores and they live longer, says Pollan.
But since meat is also nourishing food and if you like it, then eat it in moderation. Treat it as a flavoring or a special occasion food.
On the subject of leafy eating, it is worth knowing that growing catnip in your garden will not only drive your cats crazy with glee, it will also attract bees and hummingbirds, says The Almanac For Farmers & City Folk. Sparrow and doves too will enjoy this plant!
