Rose Platter for Colored Foods!
Today we will take one more simple but sound tip from Food Rules An Eater’s Manual by Michael Pollan.
He quotes a Chinese proverb which says “Eating what stands on one leg (mushrooms and plant foods) is better than eating what stands on two legs (fowl), which is better than eating what stands on four legs (cows, pigs, and other mammals).”
Then this very cheering and chirpy booklet says “eat your colors.” The colors of many vegetables help protect against chronic diseases. So it makes good sense to eat as many different phytochemicals as possible!
And to add to this sound wisdom comes another good tip from The Mother Earth News Almanac which reminds us to eat salads crammed with nutritious violet leaves! Wild violet leaves are unbelievably rich in vitamins C and A – so shred them into your salad which will turn gloriously picturesque and also extremely healthy!
