Rose Platter: Don’t keep comfort foods in the home!
Today I was again rescued from a very disappointing mystery thriller on You Tube called First Snow by this very cheering book French Women Don’t Get Fat The Secret of Eating for Pleasure by Mireille Guiliano.
First Snow lured me because it had Guy Pearce and J.K. Simmons in it, both good actors. It started promisingly, about a smooth talking salesman (Pearce) who consults a wayside psychic (J.K. Simmons) who reads his palm and warns him that he will die before the first snow. But this intriguing premise goes nowhere and very soon fizzled out. I gladly returned to this treat of a book. One very fascinating chapter tells us what we all know, but forget when we get hungry!
Some useful tips are: 1. Eat at regular times.
- Introduce a small but regular new physical movement, a daily walk or climbing stairs.
- Don’t stock your favourite comfort foods at home!
- We are told to drink up 8 glasses of water daily but somehow can’t manage this! If you don’t have a taste for water, try slicing a lemon into your glass!
5.Eat only at the table, only sitting down. Never eat out of cartons! Eat slowly, chew properly! Do not watch television or read the paper!
