Using perfumes has now become equivalent to spraying yourself with a cloud of poisons. Today 95 per cent of chemicals used in fragrances are synthetic compounds, including some toxins that can cause bad health problems. Use perfumes for special events or even better, don’t use them at all!

She tells you how to use red rose petals for a lovely Rose vinegar. Gather the petals early in the morning, clip off the white petal bases, and put a couple of handfuls of them in a wide mouthed jar. Cover with a good white wine or cider vinegar, and macerate for 3 weeks. Then strain out the vinegar and bottle. You can dilute it with the addition of an equal part of Rose water. Then use it diluted – like all toilet vinegars – one part to 4 parts of water.
