Roses and cooking oil!

You can try and get rid of aphids from your roses by trying this method from an organic gardener. Doris Frichtel of California planted garlic around her rose bushes and then sprayed the roses twice a week with a concoction of one tablespoon of dish washing soap, one tablespoon of cooking oil and one quart of water!

After she used this spray the aphids vanished and the leaves on the rose bushes got a lovely shine from the oil!
