Give your roses a COTTON DRESS!

Give your roses a cotton dress!

Roses are sometimes attacked by a nasty brown beetle which crawls up the cane of the plant and injures the flowers. It feeds on the leaves at night and rests in the leaves or other areas during the day. This snout beetle has patches of grey scales. It is best to handpick them and drown them in a can of kerosene!

Another method is to apply a cotton barrier, says a book called The Organic Way to Plant Protection. Tie the cotton snugly to the canes, which will control the beetle.

The kerosene punishment also works well with the shiny, metallic Japanese beetle which often attack roses! Do this in the morning or evening.
